Circumstances where a candidate may cancel the exam

For candidates who are planning to appear for PMP exam they usually have made exam appointment for taking the exam but sometimes certain circumstances force to be unable to give the exam. How to cancel the exam

In order to cancel or reschedule either the online proctored exam or the center base exam, the candidate needs to login to their account with which they registered on PMI.org website. Once they have logged in, they can select either the “Reschedule Exam” or “Cancel Exam” link provided under the “Your examination has been scheduled” tab. They will be then presented with the options to make requisite changes to their appointed date of the exam. At this stage if they want to switch between the type of exam delivery by converting online proctoring type exam to center based or center-based exam to online proctoring exam they can do the same.

Important points to keep in mind

If the appointed time of the exam is within thirty days of the time when the candidate decides to cancel or reschedule the exam, then the candidate needs to contact PMI Customer Care for making the requisite changes to the appointment.On the other hand, if the appointed time of the exam is within forty-eight hours from the time when the candidate wants to cancel or reschedule the exam then it won’t be possible to do so in this situation. If they do not appear for the designated center for the exam or the online proctored exam based upon their initial choice, then they will forfeit the entire exam fee.

In case the candidate faces any issue such as inter connectivity problems or any technical issues relating to cancelling or rescheduling the exam then they need to directly call the exam vendor to cancel or reschedule the appointment. The candidate should desist from calling the testing site in an attempt to cancel or reschedule the exam. Furthermore, they should keep in mind that contacting the exam delivery via vendor or PMI is not accepted as a means of communication to cancel or reschedule the exam. They should follow the above give procedure of the PMI website and for the same and call the vendor if they face any issues.

Official Refund Policy

The candidate may request for a refund within thirty days starting from the date of their purchase subject to the condition that the exam for the certification is not scheduled during this period. Once the refund request has been processed the eligibility period will no longer be considered valid and the exam application will be considered closed. In case the certification exam is either canceled or rescheduled after thirty days have passed from the date of the purchase & it is done at least forty-eight hours prior to the exam then there is a rescheduling fee involved for the same.

Not eligible for refund

PMI will not provide a refund if the candidate seeks to cancel or reschedule the exam within forty-eight hours of the appointed date for the certification exam as the entire fee is considered forfeit. If the one-year eligibility period has already passed and the candidate has not scheduled the exam during this period then they will not be eligible for the refund. They will have to reapply for the exam and make fresh payments if they want to give apply for the certification. In the case that the candidate has neither appeared for the exam at the appointed date nor informed PMI they will not receive a refund.
